PARK CITY STARS
DEEP SPACE ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY ADVENTURE
An all-inclusive night of astrophotography in Park City, Utah
AVAILABLE YEAR-ROUND DURING THE NEW MOON 🌚
THE WONDER OF ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY
When it comes to some astronomical targets we see today, there's a chance they no longer exist, look completely different, or in the case of nebulae, that they have now formed planets! With astrophotography, you are capturing a period of Universal development that is essentially a "limited edition" sight, and you may be one of the few to capture it permanently.
It doesn't take much for one to simply be awe-struck by the neon glows in a nebula photograph. Something just draws people to it -- perhaps it’s a subconscious awareness that in that image is a whole world of life, fleeting forever.
Yes effort is required and yes there will be an extra device helping guide your camera, but with the help of Further Photo Expeditions photo pro and a night of proper conditions in Park City, Utah, your chance to capture deep space astrophotography has arrived!
YOUR PHOTO ADVENTURE
Photograph the most sought-after objects of the universe, including galaxies, nebula and more, with the help of a photo pro! Whether you have no experience, or some gear, we break down the basic steps to capture a deep space object, demonstrating on our gear or yours.
NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!
On this night-time photo adventure, we’ll explore a mixture of photographic opportunities of the night sky including deep space objects and perhaps even star trails—the night is yours to pick what you want.

WHY GO ON A PHOTO ADVENTURE
This course is private! We believe in the benefits of one-on-one instruction, especially in the topic of astrophotography!

This course includes in-the-field shooting guidance and optional post-processing guidance! (Add next-day post-processing lesson at checkout!)
No gear? No problem. We have all the gear necessary. All you have to do is show up and be ready to focus on learning astrophotography and having fun!
We’ve scouted gorgeous, dark (Bortle Class 4) skies to help provide a favorable opportunity of capturing as much galaxy-greatness and nebulosity as possible!
WANT TO TALK BEFORE BOOKING?
You've got it.
Beginners are welcome, but it is highly recommended that you can operate your camera in the dark.
WHAT TO BRING
No gear? No problem. We will teach and demonstrate on our gear, allowing you to take over when you’re ready. Just let us know in the comments when booking, and we’ll be prepared for you.
HERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT THINGS TO BRING ON YOUR PHOTO ADVENTURE
DSLR or mirrorless camera
At least two camera batteries
At least two memory cards
A telephoto lens
We recommend a 150-600mm. If you don’t have access to a 150-600mm, the shortest length we recommend bringing is 200mm.
A landscape lens
A wide angle lens like a 16-35mm f2.8 is a great choice for star trails or Milky Way exposures. (The focus of this course is deep space astrophotography, but if conditions and interests allow, we may utilize a wide angle lens to capture star trails, or even the Milky Way if the season is right).
Tripod
Intervalometer
Astrophotography-specific gear: a star-tracker
We recommend the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer full kit, or the iOptron SkyGuider Pro full kit, which come complete with everything you need - declination bracket, counter-weight, etc. Either kit is all you need to begin getting into astrophotography and costs approximately $400.
Hand warmers (approximately $7 on Amazon or $5 at your local Walmart) and rubber bands
As your camera is brought from warm interiors to cooler settings, dew can accumulate on your lens glass and completely fog up your images! Photographers have come up with the ingenious solution of securing a couple of hand warmers onto the lens with a rubber band, which keeps the lens temperature regulated enough that it prevents the condensation from occurring!
Headlamp
We recommend something like this because it can switch between a regular and a red, night vision light. While having a regular light will be important for walking in the dark, having red lights are important for night photographers because this type of light preserves your night vision and does not negatively impact other photographer's exposures in the way that regular light does.
Camera bag
We will be out shooting for a few hours, so be sure to bring extra water and snacks in case you tend to get hungry during the middle of shoots
A good pair of sneakers or hiking shoes that feel comfortable when on your feet for extended periods of time
OPTIONAL gear
Take your astrophotography to the next level with this add-on gear: an auto-guider, guide scope (and a laptop if you choose to add-on the next-day post-processing session!)

YOUR PHOTO PRO
“Marisa Marulli is the person who took my love for photography and pushed it over the edge. Prior to her explanation I didn’t know anything about shutter speed and aperture. Not only did she take the time to explain it to me but she spent the time to show me how to do it in the field. She put everything in terms that I could understand and I am forever grateful.”
